The Voyager is an immersive audio-visual experience and creative re-imagining of the voyage and contents of the Golden Record by Michael Havir.
It consists of a dual screen film with accompanying live soundtrack.
In the early 1970's NASA began working on a space mission to coincide with a favourable alignment of the planets which would allow probes to reach the outer solar system by means of the then new gravity assist technique. This involved using the gravity of a planet to slingshot a probe in a new direction and speed.
In 1977 the Voyager 1 and 2 space probes were launched to study the outer solar system. They are still travelling today nearly 35 years after launch and have left our solar system and entered inter-stellar space.
