Photographs
I've recently been exploring the connections between science, visual art and sound, particularly symmetry, fractals and Cymatics. I have been developing a body of photographic artworks concerned with alternative ways of looking at familiar objects and landscapes that plays with the idea of symmetry and scale. Images from nature and the urban landscape are reproduced, reversed and mirrored, adjusted and manipulated, to produce new abstract forms. Although often very different to the original they still retain a connection to those familiar objects, arousing a sense of curiosity and intrigue in the viewer. Many of the works feature images from the domestic, natural and manmade landscapes of the Footscray and Yarraville area where I’ve lived for many years.
